launching George Adlington Syme - Master Surgeon and Founder of
the College of Surgeons of Australasia at Brennan Hall, St
Vincent's Hospital on Tuesday 24 November. The book's author,
Professor Ivo Vellar, is issuing an open invitation, with guests asked

Australian Respiratory Council is seeking to award several
one-year research grants of approximately $50,000 each in 2010. These
grants are named in honour of the late Dr Harry Windsor, a leading

The HMAS Kanimbla, stocked with medical supplies, mechanical equipment
and food, is en route to Indonesia, to provide assistance to residents
in the earthquake-ravaged village of Sei Geringging, north of Padang.
Since the 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Sumatra on 30
September, survivors have been in desperate need of medical care,

While the existing Memorandum and Articles of Association have served
the College well for almost 80 years, they have some deficiencies
regarding compliance with modern corporations law and with the
operations of the today’s College. Therefore Council has proposed
this new draft Constitution for consideration by Fellows before it is

Surgical Mortality (WAASM) is a voluntary review process of patients who
die in hospital and were under the care of a surgeon.The individual
cases are examined by one or two other surgeons who were not involved in
