Road Trauma Committee: 40th anniversary

It has been 40 years since Victoria became the first jurisdiction in the world to mandate the wearing of seatbelts. The College Road Trauma Committee also celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2010, and it's time to recognise and thank the surgeons involved in road safety at that time. They pioneered relentlessly, often against popular opinion, for the compulsory wearing of seatbelts, which resulted in a staggering reduction in the vehicle occupant fatality rate. Read more »
