COVIDIEN Travelling Fellowship Grant

The Younger Fellows Committee in partnership with Covidien, is pleased to offer two Travelling Scholarships to assist Younger Fellows who are travelling overseas in 2011 to further post Fellowship studies and diversify their surgical experiences.

The applicant must be a Younger Fellow of the College (within ten years of gaining Fellowship) at the time of submitting their application, who is planning to travel overseas within the next 12 months to further post Fellowship studies prior to returning to Australasia to practice.

The Covidien Travelling Fellowship Grants are each valued at AUD$7500.

2010 MIGA Doctors in Training (DIT) Grants Program

MIGA's annual Doctors in Training (DIT) Grants Program provides funding to promote advanced skills training and experience amongst doctors in training. As part of the 2010 Program up to four Grants of $5,000 each are available. These funds are provided to assist doctors meet the expenses associated with pursuing additional training opportunities beyond the scope of their accredited training program, both in Australia and abroad. Funds can be used to cover costs such as travel and accommodation expenses, Program fees, etc. If you are interested in undertaking advanced training in your chosen specialty, the MIGA DIT Grants Program may be able to assist you. Applications close 5.00pm (CDT) Friday 29 October 2010.

American College of Surgeons – International Guest Scholarships

The American College of Surgeons offers International Guest Scholarships to competent young surgeons from countries other than the United States or Canada who have demonstrated strong interests in teaching and research. The scholarships, in the amount of US$8,000 each, provide the Scholars with an opportunity to visit clinical, teaching, and research activities in North America and to attend and participate fully in the educational opportunities and activities of the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress.

Chevron Fellowship
Up to $25,000 – applications close 15 April

The American Australian Association is pleased to announce a Chevron Fellowship for up to US$25,000 a year. The Chevron Fellowship supports Australian researchers conducting leading research in geosciences at a top US educational or research institution.

Applications for the Chevron Fellowship close on April 15th 2010. Guidelines and application form are available at – www.americanaustralian.org/education
The Chevron Fellowship is open for post graduate or post doctoral research in the area of Geosciences, including geology, geophysics and reservoir engineering.

Criteria

  • Study Level: Research/study must be at the graduate level or above
  • US Enrolment: Proof of acceptance into a US educational institution is required
  • Citizenship: Applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Budget: Applicant must submit a proposed budget. The Fellowships are intended to support part of the costs of one year of research/study in the United States
  • Fulltime study: Applicant should intend to devote full time to their research or study
