Clinical Director
ACT Audit of Surgical Mortality
- 3 hours per month (contract basis)
- Remuneration will be at the appropriate senior specialist level
(hourly rate).
Overview
This new contract position will be responsible for the clinical
direction and support to the ACT Audit of Surgical Mortality
(ACTASM). ACTASM is a state wide, peer reviewed and voluntary
process for auditing surgical mortality. The review process
identifies areas of clinical management which can be improved.
This critically important, quality improvement initiative is funded by
DHS.
The initial appointment is for a period of three years with the
possibility of renewal.
As an experienced and respected Fellow of the Royal Australasian
College of Surgeons, you will work with the ACTASM Project Officer to
establish the surgical program within ACT through liaison with surgeons,
hospitals and DHS as well as providing project oversight and acting as
Chair of the ACTASM Management Committee.
A demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, excellent organisational
and time management skills are required, as are superior verbal and
written communication skills.

Project Manager
South Australian Audit of Perioperative Mortality (SAAPM)
Research, Audit & Academic Surgery Division
- North Adelaide Location
- Full-time position
- Salary package $70,000 - $75,000 (inclusive of 9% Super)
Overview
The Project Manager will work closely with the Clinical Director to
oversee the successful implementation of this project established in
2005 and governed by the Research, Audit and Academic Surgery Division.
SAAPM is part of a national framework of audits, the Australian &
New Zealand Audit of Surgical Mortality. This position requires liaison
with SA-based surgeons, hospitals and the SA Department of Health.
This initiative is funded by the South Australian Department of
Health
Primary Objective
The primary objective of this role is to lead and develop the audit
process for South Australia. This includes providing de-identified
reports that afford opportunity for evaluating current deficits in
clinical practices and hospital systems, and using best practice
approaches, to improve outcomes for patients. Duties will also include
educating key stakeholders about the audit process and data collection
and analysis.
The key areas of responsibility are:
- Management of a clinical database
- Management of SAAPM project staff
- Data analysis and reporting of audit findings to various
stakeholders
- Management of project budget and contract deliverables
The ideal candidate will possess the following
qualifications, experience and skills:
- A degree in health related sciences
- Training in the use of statistical programs, spreadsheets, databases
and statistical packages
- Project Management or business related postgraduate
qualifications
- Experience in medical-based research
- Experience in participating in health research implementation
including performance monitoring and quality improvement activities

written communication skills.
