Guidelines and position papers

The College has developed guidelines and position papers which represent the recommendations of the College and preferred position on surgical issues.

ANZ Journal of Surgery

The ANZ Journal of Surgery is the leading publication for surgical research in Australia and New Zealand. The Journal is published ten times a year with an extra supplement in the May edition that carries all the abstracts of research papers delivered at the College’s Annual Scientific Congress. The Journal is published by Blackwell Publishing.

Fellows and Trainees of the College can view the full-text of articles in the Journal via the College's Online Library.

Surgical News

Surgical News is a monthly publication of the College that includes articles of interest in surgery, news about College events and courses, features on surgical subjects, Fellows and current research activities and news on the College's overseas programs.

Policies

The policies of the College are resolutions of Council or its Executive. Most policies are available to the public. Fellows and Trainees of the College can view additional policies after logging in.

External reports

As part of its role in surgical education and the maintenance of surgical standards in Australasia, the College provides reports to external agencies such as the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). In addition, the College regularly contributes to public inquiries on matters related to surgery, and the health workforce. These documents are all available to the public, and are collected here.

• The Cutting Edge
  The Cutting Edge is the quarterly publication of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons New Zealand National Board.
• Basic Surgical Training
  The BST newsletter is published twice a year and is available as an e-newsletter only.

Systematic reviews

The Australian Safety and Efficacy Register of New Interventional Procedures - Surgical (ASERNIP-S) publishes Systematic Reviews and Accelerated Systematic Reviews for a range of surgical procedures.

Consumer information

ASERNIP-S also publishes Consumer information, providing summaries of specific surgical procedures for members of the public.
