Court of Examiners
Background

The Court is appointed by the Council of the College. Its purpose is to conduct the Fellowship Examinationpdf pdf) and to assess the knowledge, clinical skills, judgement and decision making, and professional competencies of candidates, in order to ensure that they are safe and competent to practice as surgeons.

The Court is comprised of surgeons representing the nine different specialties in which the College conducts the Examination. The number of Examiners varies in each specialty in line with the number of trainees and Examination Candidates.

The clinical/oral examinations are generally conducted during May and October each year and are held at the following centres:

  • Australia: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide
  • New Zealand: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch
  • Hong Kong

The written exams are normally conducted in April and September each year in the following Centres:

  • Australia: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth Canberra, Hobart
  • New Zealand: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch
  • Hong Kong

 

Appointments to the Court of Examiners

Applications from eligible Fellows willing to serve on the Court should be forwarded to the Department of Examinations of the College by no later than Monday 19 November 2007.
