Specialty boards
There are currently nine specialty boards:
Functions of a specialty board
The specialty boards advise Council through the
censor-in-chief on the following:
- curriculum, content and duration of training
- accreditation and
content of training programs including integration between programs and
with overseas posts and the inspection of posts
- selection of Trainees
- eligibility of Trainees to present for the Fellowship
Examination
- assessment of satisfactory completion of training
- provision of information to maintain a register of
Trainees
- maintenance of surgical standards in each specialty's training
program.
