EMST Emergency Medical Kit

As featured in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery (Vol. 69, No. 8, August 1999), this kit (which measures 27cm x 21cm x 11cm) aims to to optimise initial care given at the scene by health professionals. It addresses the issues of bystander safety, as well as patient access and airway, haemorrhage and temperature control.

In 70 per cent of trauma cases, bystander assistance is performed by a doctor, nurse or ambulance officer in an off-duty capacity.

The kit is made of heavy duty cordura with a waterproof backing. It has three removable panels that are designed to accommodate the contents in a space-efficient manner. The kit contains disposable and replaceable components:

• Waterproof bag
• Disposable gloves
• Disposable eye shields
• Torch
• Reflective arm band
• Shears
• Space blanket
• Pocket mask for E.A.R.
• 4 oropharyngeal airway sizes 1,2,3,4
• 1 nasopharyngeal airway size 7.0mm
• 1 roll of 7.5mm width adhesive tape (sleek)
• 2 combines
• 2 crepe bandages 10cm
• 2 crepe bandages 15cm
• 2 triangular bandages

All the above components are disposable and replaceable. Optional extras are available from the distributor. Details are enclosed with the kit, including survey and re-order forms.

EMST Ties

This multi-coloured tie is made of pure silk and feature the EMST logo and images, e.g. the ABCDE of Trauma, the Primary Survey, Secondary Survey, etc.

This design is also available as a ladies' tie and a bow tie.

EMST Classic Tie

A pure silk, classic striped tie with the EMST logo printed in the bottom right hand corner. Perfect for formal occasions.

EMST 10th Anniversary Tie

A navy blue and yellow pure silk tie commemorating the 10th anniversary of the EMST program, with EMST, Australasian Trauma Society and Trauma '98 logos.
