Refresher Course

One and a half days

EMST status is valid for four years and can be maintained by attending a Refresher Course.

The EMST Refresher Course was completely revised in 2006 and is now an enjoyable one and a half day course which is predominantly scenario-based, aiming to refresh and further develop previously taught knowledge and skills through simulated models.

The Refresher Course has been developed primarily for those who have completed a Provider Course within the last 5 to 6 years, refreshing and building on the knowledge and skills already taught.

If it has been longer than 6 years since you have completed your Provider Course, you may wish to consider completing another Provider Course instead of a Refresher. To assist you with this decision, please compare the Refresher Course (.pdf

file pdf) programs.

Generally, courses commence on Friday morning and conclude on Saturday afternoon.

Instructor Course

Two and a half days

Medical practitioners interested in trauma care who have an interest and involvement in teaching and who wish to become actively involved in the EMST program may be invited to attend an EMST Instructor Course.

An Instructor Course is held from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. During the course, a strong emphasis is placed on the learning process and educational principles. It is invaluable to those involved in teaching.
