Click here ( pdf pdf) to download an outline of when trainees are required to complete each course.

These intensive short courses provide trainees with the opportunity to undertake hands-on practice by offering a high tutor to participant ratio. Trainees are provided with comprehensive course manuals outlining the theoretical basis and practical applications used throughout the courses. Evaluation is by continual subjective assessment with components of more formal assessment of performance at skills stations.

ASSET and CCrISP preference forms and course dates will be posted to all Surgical Trainees who have not completed a course in the November before they commence training. The EMST Office contact second year trainees around the same time with a course allocation.

Positions on these courses are automatically quarantined each year for surgical trainees who have not completed a course. Once a position has been quarantined, it is the trainee's responsibility to ensure that they attend the course, as only one position can be quarantined per course for each student.

For further details regarding placements, please contact the Skills Training Department.
