Basic Surgical Training

The College facilitates a Mentor Program in which Basic Surgical Trainees may choose to receive professional and/or personal support and guidance from a Fellow of the College. In this way, experienced professionals can assist Trainees to successfully complete their Basic Surgical Training and to integrate into the surgical community. The focus of the mentoring relationship is dictated by the Trainee's needs throughout training and is therefore flexible and negotiable. Mentor and mentee communicate regularly to plan activities to assist the Trainee to set and meet educational and career goals and mentors are well-placed to advise Trainees on the most suitable rotation mix.

Basic Surgical Trainees and Fellows interested in participating in the Mentor Program can contact the College for more information.
