The RACS International Development Program provides scholarships for surgeons from developing countries in Asia and the Pacific. These scholarships fund training opportunities and facilitate professional contact with Australasian medical personnel.

  • Rowan Nicks Scholarship
The Rowan Nicks Scholarship is offered annually to young surgeons from developing countries who have been identified as surgical leaders of the future. The scholarship is tenable in an institution where recipients will learn the craft of surgery, and also become involved in teaching, research and administration.

  • International Travel Grant for Asia Pacific Surgeons
The International Travel Grant for Asia Pacific Surgeons provides for recipients to attend the Annual Scientific Congress (ASC) of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and for hospital visits in the host city.

  • Surgeons International Award
The Surgeons International Award provides for doctors, nurses or other health professionals from underprivileged backgrounds to undertake short term visits to one or more Australian hospitals to acquire the knowledge, skills and contacts needed for the promotion of improved health services in the recipient’s own country.

  • Weary Dunlop Boon Pong Exchange Fellowship (PDF 11.3 KB)
The Weary Dunlop Boon Pong Exchange Fellowship is a collaboration between the RACS and the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand.
