  Rural Services

The Rural Services section of the Department of Fellowship Services provide secretariat services for various committees and working parties as well as administer externally funded projects to facilitate ongoing support of our Rural Fellows.

Rural Services provide Secretariat support to the following Committees and Working Parties

• Divisional Group of Rural Surgery
  The Divisional Group of Rural Surgery (DGRS) is the peak body representing surgeons in rural, regional and remote areas of Australia and New Zealand. For more information about the DGRS please click here.

• The Locum Evaluation and Peer Review Committe
  This Committee act as a peer review group to monitor and review surgical audit (logbook) records of Fellows solely undertaking locum work.

• Indigenous Health Working Party
  This Working Party was recently established to develop a Position Statement on Indigenous Health in Australia and New Zealand.

• GP Procedural Working Party
  This Working Party has completed drafting the first draft Position Statement on GP Procedural surgical training.

Provincial Surgeons of Australia - Virtual Conference

The Provincial Surgerns of Australia Annual Scientific Conference is held annually in a regional centre in Austalia. In 2007, with assistance of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons a Virtual Conference was produced providing an insight into this unique conference. As a member of the College you are able to logon to this site and view photo's, powerpoints slides of the presentations and eight downloadable videos for you to view.

In addition, the DGRS supports the Commonwealth-funded Support Scheme for Rural Specialists project.
