From the Flight Deck: Improving Team Performance

 

Workshop information

What will you learn?

Facilitated by an experienced doctor and pilot, this two-day workshop looks at the lessons learned from the aviation industry and applies them to the medical environment. Learn about human error and how to improve individual and team performance.

The program combines:

  • rigorous analysis of actual airlines accidents and medical incident case studies
  • group discussions
  • the rare opportunity to experience a realistic operation flight in a full-motion airline training flight simulator.

You'll be challenged, have fun and learn some valuable lessons in this workshop.

Key learning outcomes

  • To understand error analysis models for both aviation and surgical incident.
  • To recognise factors that contribute to human error.
  • To understand the strategies that improve individual and team performance in critical medical incidents.

Cancellation policy:

  • In the unlikely event that insufficient registrations are received to make the activity viable, or the date or location of a Professional Development activity is changed, the College takes no responsibility for additional individual costs incurred as a result. Please note that registrations are not confirmed until payment has been processed.
  • If a participant cancels their place in a workshop the following conditions apply:
    • For cancellations between two and four weeks before the workshop, participants are eligible for a 50% refund.
    • There are no refunds for cancellations less than two weeks before the workshop.
    • However, at the discretion of the Professional Development Manager, registrants may be offered a refund or given the opportunity to transfer to another relevant Professional Development activity.
    • Consideration will be given to circumstances of a medical or compassionate nature.
