Payment by instalments
In October 2005, Council approved a facility for Fellows and Trainees
to pay fees by instalments.
Under the scheme, the following services can be paid by four equal
instalments:
-
Fellows Subscriptions
-
Basic Surgical Training - Annual Training Fee, Web Fee and
Registration Fee Year 1
-
Specialist Surgical Training - Annual Training Fee
Courses and examinations are not eligible for
payment by instalments as these charges relate to specific services
which must be paid for in full prior to attendance.
If you elect to pay by instalments:
-
Complete the Election to pay by four equal instalments on the
invoice and return to the College prior to 15 January each year.
-
Payment can only be made by Visa, MasterCard, Amex or Diners Club
Card.
-
Your credit card will be debited with the first instalment on
receipt of the remittance slip.
-
The second, third and fourth instalments will be automatically
debited on or about 15 April, 15 July and 15 October respectively
in each year.
-
A 5 per cent surcharge will be charged and spread equally over the
4 instalments. The total amount payable including the surcharge is
shown on the tax invoice.
Subscription categories
Variations in subscription rates have been previously referred to as
"concessions" leading to the view that these are indeed special rates
only to be granted sparingly. The current scheme sets out
Subscription Categories reflecting members' individual
circumstances.

- Active Fellows are those in independent specialist surgical practice
which includes operative, specialist consulting, medico-legal practice
and other specialist non-precedural and non-clinical work such as
surgical administration and academia.
- Category 2 or 3 will automatically apply to Fellows who turn 65 or
70 before the end of the subscription period. For all other
categories the category conditions must exist for more than six months
of the subscription period.
- Fully retired Fellows are those who have ceased practising all forms
of medicine, surgery, medico-legal work and other specialist
non-procedural and non-clinical work such as surgical administration and
academia.
- The overseas category includes Fellows permanently residing outside
Australia and New Zealand. Fellows temporarily residing outside

- The Honorary Treasurer may set individual special subscriptions to
accommodate unusual circumstances including financial hardship.
- The categories will be cumulative down to 25 per cent eg. a FRANZCO
Fellow 65 and over or permanently overseas.

Australasian College of Surgeons, College of Surgeons' Gardens, Spring

include information on the changes in circumstance(s) that may lead
to a variation to the subscription category.
