RP Jepson Professor of Surgery, University of Adelaide, was appointed inaugural Surgical Director of ASERNIP-S in October 1997. Since that time Professor Maddern has been involved in developing the ASERNIP-S project for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Professor Maddern is a practising hepatobiliary surgeon based at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, is Head of the Division of Surgery and Director of the Basil Hetzel Institute for Medical Research in Adelaide.
