Notification of a new procedure

ASERNIP-S collects and assesses research regarding the introduction, assessment and monitoring of new surgical techniques and technologies. Recommendations are made on the safety and efficacy of these new surgical procedures. The aim is to improve the quality of healthcare through the wide distribution of this research to surgeons, healthcare providers and consumers, both nationally and internationally.

ASERNIP-S will accept nominations of suitable surgical procedures for review from

  • Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
  • representatives of the Consumers Health Forum
  • hospital credentialling committees
  • commissioners of the State Health Care Complaints Commissions
  • medical indemnity organisations
  • members of the public

Consumers are encouraged to contact their local Consumers Health Forum representative, or the Health Care Complaints Commission office in their state, if they have concerns about a procedure.
