The Board of Surgical Research

Introduction

The Board of Surgical Research is the College body that oversees the Scholarship Program. The Specialist Surgical Training Boards of Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Urology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery are all represented on the Board. The Board also has representatives from College Council and the Surgical Research Society.

 

Board Objectives

  • To foster a research milieu within the College
  • To increase the College's research profile amongst Fellows, Trainees and the wider community
  • To be accountable to the College Council for reporting on any research related policy or matters
  • To develop and review policy relating to research
  • To ensure fiscal responsibility in maintenance of scholarship bequests, and
  • To take an active role in directing research funding.
