Research & Audit overview

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons takes a leadership role in surgical research. Research is conducted by the Australian Safety and Efficacy Register of New Interventional Procedures - Surgical (ASERNIP-S) and supported through a number of audits including the National Breast Cancer Audit, Australian and New Zealand Audits of Surgical Mortality and the Colorectal Cancer Audit.

Research is also undertaken through the Scholarship Program, under the umbrella of the Foundation for Surgery, which offers over $1million in funding annually to the most academic and able surgical trainees and Fellows, funding research which leads to better patient outcomes and care.
