The Maintenance of Professional Standards (MOPS) Program is
offered by the College to enable doctors not trained by the College
to demonstrate their maintenance of appropriate professional
standards of knowledge and performance. The MOPS Program is
completed over a 12-month consecutive period.
Doctors who are not Fellows of the College but have
postgraduate surgical qualifications at a recognised institution
can register to participate in the program. Similarly, doctors who
are specialist or vocationally registered in Australia and/or New
Zealand respectively are also welcome to register to participate in
the program.
MOPS program requirements
The MOPS Program has been developed in consultation with
specialty societies, associations and regional committees to ensure
that it meets the needs of participants and reflects current
educational principles. The MOPS information
manual (PDF 195 KB) outlines requirements for the program
according to practice types and provides information within each
category on activities that participants can undertake to assist
with meeting the requirements.
Statement of participation
Participants who meet the requirements of the program are
eligible to receive a Statement of Participation. The statement may
be supplied to medical registration boards, hospitals or other
organisations as evidence of your participation in a professional
development program.
Registration
To register for the MOPS Program, please complete the
2013 MOPS registration form (PDF 230 KB) and return
