The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is an umbrella
organisation representing the interests of all Fellows in whatever
specialty they practice. Additionally, the specialties and
sub-specialties are represented by their own societies or
associations.
Fellowships of the RACS are awarded in 9 surgical divisions:
- Cardiothoracic Surgery
- General Surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery
- Paediatric Surgery
- Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
- Urology
- Vascular Surgery.
Each of the 9 surgical divisions has a board for training in
that specialty. The boards can appoint regional subcommittees to
advise on training facilities in the regions, and to be available
to advise Trainees in the specialty. There are also Fellows in
Ophthalmology, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The following societies and associations include Fellows who
