Jayvee received the $2,500 NZD prize for their presentation, Performance and failure analysis of real-time surgical computer vision in clinical practice. He was selected from a strong field of five finalists, whose presentations on the night highlighted the breadth, quality and impact of surgical research being undertaken across Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Louis Barnett Prize is one of the College's most prestigious research awards and recognises advanced academic work by Aotearoa New Zealand surgeons. First awarded in 1962, the prize commemorates Sir Louis Barnett CMG, a pioneering surgical researcher, founder of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), and the first surgeon from Aotearoa New Zealand to become President of the College.
