Nominations for election to RACS Council will open on Monday 2 September and will close on Monday 16 September.
RACS Fellows will receive an email on Monday 2 September with a link to the nomination form. Candidates submit their nomination form and photograph online. Submission of statements from two other Fellows who support the candidate’s nomination are also done online.
RACS Council is the governing body of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Council meets three times a year at the end of February, June and October. In addition, Councillors are expected to be members of Council committees and working parties, and to fulfil any committee role conferred on them by Council.
Council embraces and encourages broad diversity of membership. Amongst other diversity, Council should comprise a mix of Fellows from public, private and academic practice.
Diversity/skills gaps on Council include Fellows with Indigenous connections and those with wider governance experience.
This year, Fellows in private practice are especially encouraged to nominate because two of the retiring Councillors are in full-time private practice.
Currently there is no elected Councillor from Tasmania.
