The Surgical Ethics Research Scholarship promotes research about, and public awareness of, ethical issues confronting surgery.
Past scholarship topics of focus have included Surgical ethics, law and mandatory reporting; Surgery, ethics and climate change; and Surgery and climate change: The scientific and ethical public policy implications.
The Lancet Commission on Climate and Health has previously called for the healthcare community to take a leadership role in advocating for emissions reductions, and to critically examine our own activities with respect to their effects on human and environmental health. RACS supports these calls, and this is an example of an ethical issue that applicants may wish to consider.
