Board of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery

Membership of the Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

Overview

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the principal body for the training and education of surgeons in Australia and New Zealand. Accreditation is given by the Australian Medical Council on behalf of the Medical Board of Australia, and the Medical Council of New Zealand to conduct training and education of surgeons in all specialties in Ausralia and New Zealand.

The RACS Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery has oversight of the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Surgical Education and Training Program, reporting to the Board of Surgical Education and Training.

RACS collaborates with the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, as agents of RACS, to administer the SET training program.

The Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery SET training program is designed to provide Trainees with clinical and operative experience in order to learn special methods of investigation and become competent in techniques related to the discipline. At the conclusion of training it is expected that Trainees will be able to perform as independent practitioners, meeting the requirements of all identified RACS competencies.
