The Find a Surgeon directory is a listing of active Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons who meet the requirements of the College's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program and have opted to be on the list. This list excludes retired or inactive Fellows.

 

The altruism of Fellows extends to include membership of committees, which provide support and guidance to the International Development Program:

The International Committee

  • Advises Council on matters concerning the international activities of the College
  • Aims to provide a framework for the College to develop surgical practice, education, training and research in collaboration with overseas colleges, universities and governments
  • Encourages and promotes the international activities of the College by assisting with the implementation of aid programs in the Asia Pacific region.

International Project Management Committee (IPMC)

The International Project Management Committee (IPMC) is responsible for overseeing the management of the International Development Program. This is carried out through:

  • determining the strategic direction for the program
  • ensuring the quality of its service
  • promoting the transparency of its processes.

The IPMC also:

  • provides technical advice to the project administration team and ensures that the procedures undertaken by volunteer medical staff are appropriate and that, whenever possible, skills are transferred to local medical counterparts
  • examines whether the College is acting in accordance with its contractual obligations to AusAID and its other funding sources.

Pacific Islands Project Evaluation and Monitoring Committee (PIP EMC)

The Pacific Islands Project Evaluation and Monitoring Committee (PIP EMC) is an independent body that evaluates and monitors the provision of tertiary services and capacity building activities on PIP visits. The committee regularly reviews visits delivered to the Pacific Islands to ensure that high quality services are continuously delivered through the PIP.

Rowan Nicks Committee

The Rowan Nicks Committee is responsible for monitoring and coordinating all activities related to the Rowan Nicks Scholarships; this includes the selection, placement and evaluation of Rowan Nicks scholars. The Committee is also responsible for overseeing the progression of Rowan Nicks scholars during their placement in Australia, New Zealand or other countries. They aim to promote its scholarships in regions where the objective of the scholarships can be of greatest benefits and to evaluate the effectiveness of these scholarship programs.

Project China Committee

The Project China Committee is responsible for overseeing and managing Project China. Project China is a program that facilitates the exchange of expertise and experience between medical specialists in China and Australia and New Zealand. This is carried out in response to needs identified by Chinese hospitals.

Project China also investigates research opportunities and raises funds to enable the expansion of project activities.
