The Find a Surgeon directory is a listing of active Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons who meet the requirements of the College's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program and have opted to be on the list. This list excludes retired or inactive Fellows.

Surgical Education and Training overview

If you have completed a medical degree overseas but have not yet completed specialist surgical training, you may apply to RACS for the Surgical Education and Training (SET) program.

The eligibility criteria requirements applicants must have are:

  1. Permanent residency or citizenship status of Australia or New Zealand.
  2. General (unconditional) registration in Australia or General scope or restricted general scope registration in the relevant specialty in New Zealand.
  3. Successful completion of the RACS Hand Hygiene Learning Module.
  4. Completion of the RACS Let's Operate with Respect eModule. 

The SET program is underpinned by nine RACS competencies:

  • Judgement - clinical decision making
  • Management and leadership
  • Medical expertise
  • Professionalism and ethics
  • Scholar and teacher
  • Technical expertise
