Find a surgeon

The Find a Surgeon directory is a listing of active Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons who meet the requirements of the College's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program and have opted to be on the list. This list excludes retired or inactive Fellows.


Continuing Medical Education (CME) Approval

The College has a process for approving Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities that aim to improve the quality of patient care. An activity that has been recognised for CME approval represents a quality benchmark for Fellows of the College and ensures that the content of an activity is relevant to the learning needs of surgeons. Fellow attendance contributes to meeting their annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) (PDF 834KB) requirements.

  • Free service which includes support to education providers
  • Permission to market as 'having been approved in the College's CPD program' to participants
  • Use of the RACS CME Approved logo
  • Promotion of activities on the Approved Education Events listing in the RACS Portfolio

Approval process

All applications will be reviewed by the College to ensure activities meet the required educational standards and criteria, and to verify that the teaching methods, learning aims and outcomes, and evaluation tools  are educationally sound.

How to Apply

We have launched our online Provider Portal. The CME Provider Portal will allow you to securely manage your CME applications and approved activities online. Other new features include:

  • Simplified process of uploading supporting documents
  • Copy function to simplify activity applications
  • Easy access to activity due dates for re-application
  • Email alerts

To create your User account:

  1. Go to RACS Provider Portal 
  2. Log on (if you have an existing RACS profile) OR "Create Account" - this is your personal log on to the RACS system
  3. Notify the CME team to advise that you have your account - a link between you and your organisation will be created in the online portal
  4. Receive access confirmation
  5. Log on to the RACS Provider Portal 

To lodge your activity application:

  • Log on to the RACS Provider Portal
  • Complete the "New Application"
  • Ensure all fields and appropriate documentation is complete
  • Submit your application!

Important information to note:

  • All approved activities are approved for 1 CPD point per hour
  • Approval is valid for two years where content is static. Activities with changing content are approved for that activity only.

  • All activity dates must be included in the Portal - activity dates can be added throughout the approval period
  • The provider must upload Fellow attendance information within two weeks of the activity being completed. Failure to upload attendance data may result in approval being terminated
