Colon and Rectal Surgery overview
The Colon and Rectal Surgery Section encourages training and
research in Colon and Rectal Surgery. The high standard of surgical
expertise in Colorectal Surgery is fostered and maintained through
a close working relationship with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New
Zealand (CSSANZ). The College training program for the
specialty is collaboration between the Section of Colon and Rectal
Surgery and the CSSANZ, and has been since Colorectal Surgery was
established as a sub-specialty.
The Mark Killingback Prize - Colon and
Rectal Surgery Section is awarded annually for the best
scientific paper presented by a Surgical
Education and Training (SET) Trainee or Younger
Fellow (within 10 years of receiving Fellowship) at the Annual
Scientific Congress (ASC) on an area related to Colorectal
Surgery. The prize allows for travel (return airfare, meeting
registration and accommodation) to present the winning paper at the
meeting of the American Society of Colon and RectalSurgeons
(ASCRS) the following year.

Meeting is also held at the ASC.
Partnering with CSSANZ
The Section partners with CSSANZ and other organisations
at the following meetings:
- Tripartite Colorectal Meeting. The next meeting is to be held
in Auckland, New Zealand 09-12 November 2020.
- Spring Colorectal Meeting. The next meeting is to be held in
Freemantle, 25-27 October 2018.
- Sydney Colorectal Surgery Meeting. The next meeting is be held
17 November 2018.
