Pain Medicine overview
The Section advises the College on matters relating to Pain
Medicine, education and training, post-fellowship training, and
surgical standards and practice through the Board of Surgical
Education and Training, the Post-Fellowship Education and Training
Committee and the Professional Standards Committee.
The Section will also be significantly involved in preparing and
coordinating the scientific programs on Pain Medicine at the Annual
Scientific Congress (ASC).

Theme: Pain the dark side of the mind

The theme "The dark side of the mind" will complement
the ANZCA ASM pain program. We will be exploring what the rise in
anxiety disorders means for the future of chronic pain; hearing
from both the head of the Kings Cross injecting room and a forensic
pathologist about risky prescribing; and be given a practical guide
to preventing delirium with anaesthesia and analgesia.
