Dr Joy Wong

Overview

Dr Joy Wong completed her MBBS with honours from the University of Tasmania.

She went on to train in general and vascular surgery in the Royal Brisbane and Womens' Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Queensland. Dr Wong relocated to Melbourne in 2009 and completed vascular surgical training at the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg and subsequently trained in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, United Kingdom to further her exposure to vascular and endovascular surgery. 

Joy settled back in Melbourne and completed her vascular surgical training fellowship at Monash Medical Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital. Dr Wong is a mother of 2 young boys who keep her busy when she is not at work. Passionate about patient care and holistic wellness,  Joy has a keen interest in teaching, and has been involved as associate lecturer with University of Melbourne throughout her training. She is also an accomplished musician, completing her Licentiate of the Trinity College of London in piano.
She is particularly interested in minimally invasive treatment for peripheral vascular disease, minimally invasive treatment of venous disease including radio frequency treatment and sclerotherapy for varicose veins. Joy is able to treat aortic aneurysm pathology with minimally invasive treatment (EVAR/PEVAR and TEVAR)

Caring for diabetic feet, providing prevention and treatment for diabetic foot ulcers, with peripheral angioplasty and wound care has been an area that Joy has a particular keen interest. Joy is interested in creation of AV Fistulas, and management of AV fistulas problems including stenosis and aneurysms. The management of TIAs/strokes and carotid artery disease is also in her repertoire.
