Overview

Dr Manoj Mathew is a Queensland trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with post fellowship subspeciality training

 

     Dr Manoj Mathew obtained his medical degree from Kerala University in Southern India. He subsequently undertook four and a half years of Orthopaedic training at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, a national centre of clinical excellence. During the period he also successfully completed all three components of the MRCS exam administered by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK.

     After migrating to Australia he was selected into the 5 year Australian training Scheme in Orthopaedic surgery. As part of his Australian Orthopaedic Surgical Education and Training (SET) scheme he worked at The Gold Coast hospital, Cairns Base Hospital, The Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital and the Prince Charles Hospital. After receiving his Fellowship in Orthopaedic surgery (FRACS) he worked for a short time as a full time staff specialist at the Redcliffe Hospital till the end of June of 2016. He then undertook close to a year of post fellowship training at The Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Centre (FKSMC) at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. FKSMC is an American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine accredited training and research institute that specialises in the treatment of joint and ligament injuries of all age groups including high-level national and varsity athletes. The subspecialty fellowship provided him with surgical training in advanced techniques in joint cartilage and ligament reconstruction surgeries. His primary areas of interest are the:

• Treatment of Sports and ligament injuries of the shoulder, hip and knee

• Treatment of Orthopaedic conditions of the 

           shoulder,

           hip and

           knee;

                      including joint replacement surgery; and joint preserving procedures like realignment osteotomies.
