Overview

Dr Samuel Baker is very experienced in delivering a diverse range of general surgery and special interests of upper gastrointestinal, bariatric and advanced laparoscopic surgery including adrenalectomy, splenectomy, pancreatectomy, colorectal and hernia surgery.  Currently practising in private and public hospitals and day surgery centres and also provides outreach surgical services to Ingham Hospital.

At North Queensland Minimally Invasive Surgery we aim to provide excellent surgical services in an environment that offers high quality care to each patient. 

North Queensland Minimally Invasive Surgery (NQMIS) is a purpose built facility for surgical management of general surgical conditions. Minimally Invasive Surgery means "Less Pain" and "Faster Recovery" enabling you to return to your normal routine as quickly and as comfortably as possible.

North Queensland Obesity Surgery Centre (NQOSC) is a purpose built facility for the surgical management of morbid obesity. The long-term success of obesity surgery is dependent on having a multidisciplinary team of professionals who work together with the goal of providing safe and effective weight-loss surgery, comprehensive education, lifestyle modification, and ongoing follow-up and support.

NQMIS and NQOSC is a group of five Specialist Surgeons based primarily at the Mater Medical Centre in Townsville but also have clinics at the Ingham Hospital, Charters Towers Hospital and Ayr Medical Group.  Each of our Surgeons has extensive experience in general and laparoscopic surgery, with subspecialty interests in obesity, breast, thyroid, hepatobiliary pancreatic, skin cancer and melanoma surgery.
