"The history of the College isn't just found in official records. It's found in the people who helped shape it, the milestones that marked our progress, and the photographs, documents, instruments and objects that tell the story of where we've come from. As we approach our centenary, we have an opportunity to uncover and preserve these important pieces of our shared history, helping us understand not only where we've been, but where we're going."
Associate Professor Michael Hollands Chair, RACS Centenary Committee
As our College approaches its centenary in 2027, we're inviting members, staff, patients and the wider community to contribute to 100 years. 100 stories.—an initiative designed to capture the stories that have shaped the College's first century.
We're looking for stories that help tell the history of RACS. While many of these may be personal, we're particularly interested in submissions that connect to the College itself, its people, programs, milestones, achievements and evolution over the past 100 years.
Perhaps it's the story of a Fellow who played an important role in College life, a significant training initiative, a memorable Annual Scientific Congress, an outreach activity, a wartime contribution, a landmark moment in governance or education, or an innovation that influenced the way the College supports surgeons and patients. It may be a photograph, document, instrument, medal or other object that captures an important chapter in RACS history.
Personal experiences can provide valuable context, but they're most powerful when they help illuminate a broader story about the College and its impact.
Together, these stories and artefacts will help build a richer record of RACS' first century, preserving the moments, people and achievements that have shaped the organisation we know today.
Every milestone, object and memory connected to the College helps tell the story of RACS. Help us preserve it for the next century.
