RACS joined leading medical colleges at the Australian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) Annual Convention, attended by more than 500 medical students from across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. As the peak representative body for medical students in Australia, AMSA plays a vital role in supporting future doctors through advocacy, leadership, education, and professional development opportunities.
Representing RACS among peer colleges reinforced our presence in the prevocational space at a critical moment in students' career decision-making. Our team showcased JDocs—RACS' prevocational program—connecting directly with students exploring surgical pathways.
We welcomed more than 200 delegates to the booth, where we answered questions about how JDocs and the College can support doctors throughout their prevocational training journey. The team fielded a wide range of enquiries, including the examinations process, the pathway to becoming a surgeon, what JDocs is, and the types of events and professional development opportunities available across each state and territory.
A competition at the booth drove engagement and raised RACS' profile throughout the convention. The response was enthusiastic and a strong reminder of why face-to-face prevocational representation matters.
Congratulations to our three RACS showbag winners. The showbags included RACS swag and coveted suture kits.
