The Colon and Rectal Surgery Section encourages training and
research in Colon and Rectal Surgery. The high standard of surgical
expertise in Colorectal Surgery is fostered and maintained through
a close working relationship with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New
Zealand (CSSANZ). The College training program for the
specialty is collaboration between the Section of Colorectal
Surgery and the CSSANZ, and has been since Colorectal Surgery was
established as a sub-specialty.
Activities
The Mark Killingback Prize - Colon and Rectal Surgery Section is
awarded annually for the best scientific paper presented by a Younger
Fellow or Trainee at the Annual Scientific Congress
(ASC) on an area related to Colorectal Surgery. The prize
allows for travel (return airfare, meeting registration and
accommodation) to present the winning paper at the meeting of the
American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons
(ASCRS) the following year.
