Assoc Prof Thomas 'Michael' Hughes
Overview
Associate Professor (Thomas) Michael Hughes has over 20 years of experience as a surgical oncologist. His post-fellowship sub-specialtisation involved working with the NSW Breast Cancer Insitute at Westmead Hospital, the Sydney Melanoma Unit (now Melanoma Institute Australia - MIA) and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He established the Surgical Oncology Service at Westmead Hospital. He is currently full-time at the Sydney Adventist Hospital(SAH), the largest private hospital in NSW, sharing his time between his own clinical practice in surgical oncology and breast surgery, managing a small group practice (Northern Surgical Oncology), considerable committments as Head of the SAH Clinical School of the University of Sydney and Clinical Director of Surgical Services. He is the Chair of the Breat Cancer MDT and the Skin, Melanoma and Sarcoma/Soft Tissue Tumour MDT at SAH. A/Prof Hughes is an associate of MIA and Chair of the Surgical Oncology Section of the RACS. His research interests include all areas of his clinical practice as well as quality and outcome optimisation.
