Dr Corinne Jones

Overview

I am a senior, specialist surgeon, whose practice is dedicated to the care of patients with breast disease. I have extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer and benign breast conditions such as fibroadenomas, phyllodes tumours, breast cysts, nipple discharge and breast abscess.

I work closely with many specialist colleagues to provide multidisciplinary care to the highest possible standard. All breast cancers and complex non-cancerous cases, are discussed at a weekly Multidisciplinary Team Meeting (MDT).

I always operate to give patients an excellent cosmetic result, while considering the best current treatment and long term outcomes. I offer some of the latest operating techniques including axillary sentinel lymph node biopsy, magseed and hookwire guided breast lump removal, and in selected cases, intraoperative radiotherapy IORT. I work closely with plastic surgeons to provide mastectomy patients with the full range of breast reconstruction options, both implant and tissue based, including the DIEP (Deep Inferior Epigastic Perforator) free flaps, that require microscopic vessel anastomosis.

I operate and run a full time private practice at St John of God Hospital in Subiaco, Perth, WA. I use the latest practice software with electronic records. My practice is enhanced by locum consultant sessions with the Breast Service at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

I was the first woman born and raised in Perth, WA to become a surgical trainee and obtain a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. During the early 2000s I undertook post fellowship training in breast and thyroid surgery in Glasgow and Sheffield UK. I completed a 12 month endocrine fellowship in Poitiers, France in 2004. I then ran the Breast Unit, while establishing a Thyroid Service, at the Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, UK, until my return to Perth in mid 2008. From that time until July 2023, I built up a successful and busy practice in breast and thyroid surgery.

When not caring for patients, I enjoy cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, playing Scrabble and reading and listening to crime and historical novels.
