Dr Joerg Rhau
Overview
Dr Joerg Rhau is a globally trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and upper limb surgery. He completed his training at the prestigious Lubinus Clinic in Germany and gained extensive experience in orthopaedic surgery and injury management. Dr Rhau's research projects inspired his involvement in medical advancements in shoulder and upper limb surgery.
After completing his basic orthopaedic training in Germany, Dr Rhau finished subspecialty fellowships at the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group and the Melbourne Shoulder & Elbow Centre. He was then offered a specialist consultant position at Logan Public Hospital by Queensland Health. In 2012, he passed the Australian Fellowship Exam and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).
Dr Rhau focuses on shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand surgery in his private practice at Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane. He travels to Mackay Specialist Day Hospital monthly to consult and perform day-case hand surgery. Dr Rhau's patients appreciate his relaxed and friendly persona and practical approach to solving problems based on individual lifestyles.
Dr Rhau believes that his Australian experience and a German drive for precision enable him to deliver the best for his patients.
Outside of work, Dr Rhau enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters in his role as a "horse dad." Although he has never ridden a horse himself, his daughters are both enthusiastic showjumpers, and the family often spend weekends together on showgrounds and competing. Dr Rhau has a lifelong passion for water sports and enjoys windsurfing and wing foiling.
