Dr Paul Cheng
Overview
Dr Paul Cheng is a New Zealand trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Dr Cheng moved to New Zealand at a young age. He grew up in Auckland, and graduated from Macleans College with the ASB Scholarship and the Katherine Mansfield Trophy for the top scholar. He then obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Auckland, graduated with the Senior Prize in Medicine. After qualifying as a doctor in November 2008, he had worked in a variety of surgical specialties. He also had obtained further qualification of Post-Graduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy from the University of Otago, graduated with the Distinction Award.
Dr Cheng went on to complete his specialist training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, at various training units throughout New Zealand (Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton). He had received the Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2022. He had numerous publication in renowned medical journals, and he had been regularly involved in surgical education of junior colleagues.
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is about principles and techniques. FRACS-qualified Plastic Surgeons are able to apply their skills to restore (or improve) tissues and reverse age related changes in a way that no other surgeon is trained. Dr Cheng is passionate and dedicated to be trained as a specialist Plastic Surgeon and offers this specialist skills to his patients.
Dr Cheng is now working as a specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. He also provides specialist service in the private sector. His enjoys all aspects of plastic & reconstructive surgery, including skin cancer surgery / hand surgery / breast & body contouring surgery / burn & trauma reconstruction / microsurgery, etc. He is passionate in delivering the highest standard of care to his patients. Dr Cheng offers all his patients individualised, discreet, personal and high quality care, from the consultation through to the procedure and the after-care offered.
