Dr Isaac Thangasamy
Overview
Dr Isaac Thangasamy is a urological surgeon with advanced fellowship training in management of kidney, bladder and prostate cancers including robotic and laparoscopic surgical techniques. He also enjoys treating patients with urinary stone disease, bladder dysfunction, prostate conditions and other general urological conditions.
Isaac serves as Director of Urology at Ipswich General Hospital and is passionate about improving urology outcomes in West Moreton in partnership with general practitioners.
Isaac completed his undergraduate medical degree at University of New South Wales. After completing five years of specialty urology surgical training in Queensland, Isaac spent a year at Nepean Hospital, Sydney, developing his robotic and minimally invasive surgical skills for kidney and prostate cancer. He then travelled to Melbourne to complete a highly competitive and internationally recognised Uro-Oncology Surgery Fellowship at the esteemed Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Isaac has a keen interest in surgical education and has won multiple teaching awards. He is a senior lecturer at Universityof Queensland and is a skills course faculty member for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Isaac has published multiple research papers in major international Urology journals and is currently completing a Doctor of Clinical Surgery through The University of Sydney. His thesis on prostate cancer active surveillance is funded by a Movember Quality Improvement
research grant.
