Dr Manish Gupta

Overview

Dr Manish Gupta is an orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in treating conditions of the shoulder, elbow and wrist.

Born and raised in Sydney, Dr Gupta studied medicine at the University of NSW. He then trained in orthopaedic surgery with the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and was awarded his specialist qualification in 2010.

Thereafter he was appointed the "Hand and upper limb fellow" at The Royal Brisbane Hospital, and then selected as the Calvert Fellow at the prestigious Shoulder Institute of the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth, London, UK. Here he gained expert knowledge and surgical skills in disorders of the shoulder and elbow, and was appointed at The Royal Free Hospital NHS, London. 

He then spent time in Paris as a visiting fellow of the Institut de la main (hand surgery) and learnt microsurgery at The New York Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia University. He was a traveling Anglo Dutch sports surgery fellow, and completed the AO Foundation upper limb Masters and hand/wrist Masters courses in Switzerland. 



Dr Gupta has worked at major teaching hospitals in Townsville, Brisbane and Melbourne, before settling in his native Sydney. He specializes in treating people with disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand; non-operative, keyhole, minimally invasive and open reconstruction. He holds a position as Secretary of the OTC South Pacific, and is among leading upper limb trauma surgeons.



He is a clinical senior lecturer at the University of Sydney and continues to participate in teaching and research. He holds appointments at HSS,  Norwest Hospital, Castle Hill Day Surgery, Westmead Private, and Nepean Private Hospital. He is appointed at Nepean Hospital where he performs public elective and trauma upper limb surgery.
