Overview

Marc is a specialist who practises exclusively in the management of problems affecting the bowels, pelvic floor and their function, such as abdominal and pelvic pain, bloating, constipation, bowel leakage (incontinence) and bleeding from the back passage.

He set out on his journey to better understand how the bowel and pelvic floor work and how and why things go wrong by training in gynaecology, urology and colorectal surgery in London and Sydney. Now with over 20 years experience, he is the Director of The Bowel Clinic, Adelaide where he is committed to preventing, treating and curing bowel problems.

Currently, he is Chair of the Section of Academic Surgery and the Academic Surgery Committee and of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and immediate-past Chair of the Surgical Research Society of Australasia.

He is a passionate educator and has written numerous textbooks, including "Examination Surgery: A Guide to Passing the FRACS in General Surgery" and the highly acclaimed "Clinical Cases and OSCEs in Surgery", which has won recognition at the British Medical Association national book awards.

He is recognised as an international expert for his pioneering research to better understand and treat these conditions and for the educational resources that he has delivered to colleagues and sufferers but to his patients, he is simply known as “The Bowel Doctor”.
