Dr Matan Ben David

Overview

Matan Ben-David is a Hepatobiliary and general surgeon at Townsville University Hospital and the Mater Hospital in Townsville. After completing his surgical training in Israel, he has further pursued fellowship training in Paris, France and at The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, The Royal Prince Alfred and St. George Hospitals in Sydney.

 

Currently Matan consults and is the clinical lead for North Queensland including Cairns and Mackay on a range of complex liver and pancreas conditions. Matan is also the clinical lead for trauma at TUH.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Matan is an entrepreneur in the field of medical device innovation and is currently the co-founder and board member of Exero Medical, developing an early anastomotic leak detection device.

 

Matan regularly consults and operates at The Mater Hospital in Townsville on a range of surgical conditions with a particular focus on:

  • Advanced minimally invasive (keyhole) surgeries
  • Liver and Pancreas malignant and benign disease
  • Gallbladder conditions
  • Minimally invasive approaches to complex abdominal wall hernia
