Dr Priyadharshani 'Priya' Samarasinghe
Overview
Dr Samarasinghe is a general and laparoscopic surgeon with subspeciality training in trauma/surgical critical care. Dr Samarasinghe undertook surgical training at Westmead hospital and other hospitals in the Sydney West Area Health. She further undertook two years of fellowship at Westmead Hospital in Trauma (level 1 trauma centre) and General Surgery.
Dr Samarasinghe currently works as a General Surgeon at Shoalhaven District Memorial hospital. She has experience in general surgery, which includes Emergency General Surgery, trauma related operations in bleeding critically unwell patients, gallbladder disease, hernias, skin and soft tissue disease. She is accredited with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and performs Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy. She has more than 10 years experience in working in general surgery in Sydney West Area Health and is known for her excellence in patient care.
Dr Samarasinghe is a director of Australia and New Zealand Association for the Surgery of Trauma and is a instructor for ABSET course (Advanced Surgical Skills in Exposure in Trauma). She also has published her research work in peer reviewed journals and conferences.
