Mrs Rosalynd 'Ros' Pochin

Overview

Ros is a General, Breast and Endocrine  Surgeon. Her other interests include trauma, surgical education, and patient-centered communication. She has a degree in Psychology. 

She works both in public and private as a General surgeon, performing all routine general surgical operations, she does weekly endoscopy lists and is on the general surgical on-call roster 1 in 5 covering all acute surgery and trauma across the region.

She has  a specialty interest in Breast and Endocrine. She is the sole Endocrine Surgeon and the only accredited Breast Screen Aotearoa surgeon across the top of the South Island, plus is the Top of the South  lead for the Southern Core Governece Group for the Breast Cancer Foundation.

She instructs and directs on 5 separate skills courses and has sat on numerous RACS college committees within the surgical skills arena, chairing one.  She currently sits on the OWR Committee. In these roles, she has written extensively for the college including 12 e-learning modules and 2 face-to-face courses. She obtained her Masters in Surgical Education through the  University of Melbourne in 2022.

She is a member of Breast SurgANZ, NZAGS of the New Zealand  Familial Breast and Ovarian Cancer group, and was on the organising committee of the inaugural NZFBOC conference in 2021. She is the Treasurer of the Aotearoa New Zealand National Committee  (AoNZNC) for RACS and is  the convenor of Surgery 2022 for AoNZNC.
