Dr Stewart Proper

Overview

I am a Melbourne based Orthopaedic surgeon specializing in all facets of upper limb surgery from diagnosis to conservative and surgical solutions. Having completed the College Fellowship exam in 2000 and training in 2001, I embarked on four years of overseas training in all aspects of upper limb surgery including joint replacements, joint replacement revisions and the use of allografts, microsurgical techniques, arthroscopic surgery, and diagnosis and conservative management of hand, elbow and shoulder conditions. On return to Melbourne I worked at The Alfred and Sandringham Hospitals until 2009 and have been working in private practice since. I am heavily involved in teaching and education at all levels and am an examiner for the College. I have been at the forefront of research and new techniques and have presented at state, national and international meetings. I am passionate in ensuring the patient is able to make informed decisions about his or her management and is then able to take responsibility for their decisions.
