Mr Sumit Samant
Overview
Mr Sumit Samant completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons SET training programme in Otolaryngology and obtained FRACS before joining the ORL Department at Auckland City Hospital as Consultant Surgeon in 2015. He is a member of the International Surgical Sleep Society.
Upper airway and sleep disorders are his primary interests. Sumit is the Chair of Regional Auckland Sleep Multi-Disciplinary Meeting. He is a member of International Surgical Sleep Society, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, World Sleep Society and Australasian Sleep Association. He is Director of Auckland Sleep, which provides Sleep Navigation services to manage personalised sleep health care for the community.
His related interest in functional rhinoplasty to address structural as well as dynamic airway compromise arising from nasal septal and/or valve abnormalities ties in quite well as an adjunct to upper airway related sleep issues.
He offers a wide range of surgical solutions for obstruction at nose, palate and tongue-base levels, based on the latest evidence.
Sumit is also a member of the Training Education and Accreditation Committee of the NZ Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, which coordinates the surgical training of Otolaryngologists in New Zealand.
