Medtronic Younger Fellows Travel Grant

The Medtronic Younger Fellows Travel Grant supports Younger Fellows to further their post-Fellowship studies and diversify their surgical experiences overseas.

This grant was established by the Younger Fellows Committee in partnership with Medtronic, in recognition of the challenges Younger Fellows face when travelling overseas to further post Fellowship studies and experience. In addition to offering financial support, the grant also fosters a commitment amongst Younger Fellows to be involved in the Younger Fellows Committee and College activities more broadly.

  • Who can apply?

    To be eligible for this grant, you need to be a RACS Younger Fellow who will return to practice in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand following the Fellowship activity.

    RACS Younger Fellows are defined as obtaining Fellowship within the past ten years.

    FRACS applicants may apply for this grant providing they meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Applying to the Scholarships and Grants Program webpages.

  • Activity

    The grant may be used to fund travel, accommodation and living expenses for the recipient to study and gain clinical experience overseas.

    The activity for which funding is being sought must commence after the grant application closing date but prior to the end of the grant year (December 31st). All grant recipients will be required to provide an activity report at the end of the grant year outlining their progress against their proposal timeline.

  • Application information

    Your application is to include:

    - your career and employment details
    - your activity proposal including: how your activity will benefit your professional development; and contribute to improving Australian and/or Aotearoa New Zealand surgical standards and knowledge base
    - the expected outcomes of your activity
    - proposed costs
    - confirmation of appointment and details of any financial support or funding already secured
    - name and email addresses for two referees (recommenders) who will then receive an invitation to view parts of your online application and provide a recommendation.

    Application is via the Scholarships and Grants Program online platform, RACS Unlock, hosted by Survey Monkey Apply.
    You may register as an applicant on RACS Unlock at any time, however applications will not display on your dashboard until the Scholarships and Grants Program application opening date in April. There is no need to re-register if you already have a RACS Unlock registration.
