• Policy and guideline

    Recipients are required to:
    - present their research at the annual meeting of the Surgical Research Society of Australasia (or an agreed equivalent) at least once during, or in the 12 months following, the scholarship period.

  • Who can apply?

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to be:
    - a RACS Fellow or

    - Specialist International Medical Graduates on the pathway to RACS Fellowship (SIMGs) or

    - SET Trainees 

    AND

    - be undertaking (or intending to undertake) research with a focus on the prevention, causes, effects, treatment and/or care of cancer.

  • Activity

    Activity needs to focus on the prevention, causes, effects, treatment and/or care of cancer.

    Unless otherwise negotiated or stipulated in the respective guideline, the commencement date for scholarships is 1 January in the year following application.

  • Tenure

    Up to 2 years

  • Application requirements

    Your application is to include:

    - your career and employment details
    - your research proposal and proposed budget
    - a letter of endorsement of your research from your supervisor.

  • Selection and awarding

    Selection
    - assessment is via written application with shortlisted applicants invited to interview.
    - the selection panel is comprised of representatives of the ANZ Scholarship and Grant Committee.

    Should applicants be equal in merit, preference will be given to projects that are likely to have clinical relevance within a relatively short period of time and applicants who are:
    - currently working in Queensland or Tasmania
    - enrolled (or intending to enrol) in a higher degree such as a Masters, PhD or the equivalent
    - early-career researchers (Trainees or within 10 years of Fellowship)

    Awarding
    - payment will be made to the administering institution in one instalment prior to 1 March in the scholarship year (upon receipt of a valid tax invoice).

    Application is via the Scholarships and Grants Program online platform, RACS Unlock, hosted by Survey Monkey Apply.

    You may register as an applicant on RACS Unlock at any time, however applications will not display on your dashboard until the scholarship opening date. There is no need to re-register if you already have a RACS Unlock registration.
