Dr Leonard Shan

Overview

Dr. Leonard Shan is a vascular surgeon, clinician-researcher, and senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery at The University of Melbourne. He received his medical education at The University of Melbourne where he graduated with honours. Following vascular surgical training at multiple centres in Melbourne and Auckland, he became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery. He currently practices at St. Vincent's public and private hospitals, Fitzroy.

Leonard's special interest is in patient-reported outcomes. He is internationally recognised for his expertise on post-operative quality of life. He serves on the editorial board of the Annals of Vascular Surgery and is a member of the Australian Cardiovascular Research Alliance. Leonard is the recipient of research scholarships from the Australian Commonwealth Government and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for his PhD on patient-reported outcomes of arterial surgery, where he hopes to give patients a greater voice in treatment decision-making.
